coding designWebsite
Coding DesignA complete redesign for Willard Jones Real Estate, a small commercial real estate firm operating in downtown Chicago. The one glowing feature that the previous site design boasted was its ease of use. People often complimented that it was easy to find the information they were searching for. As a result the redesign focused on giving the brand and website a refreshed look and feel without taking away from the simplicity and ease of use that users enjoyed.
In addition, I moved the website to a more dynamic environment by using Wordpress. This enables the company to more easily make changes and maintain the website themselves.

design UI UXMobile Application
DesignUIUXLocal Guide was a mobile application designed to cater to users who traveled to new cities and needed a way to easily find activities, events and restaurants in unfamiliar locations.
I focused on fundamental UI patterns when conceptualizing the design. I then iterated on this design using Google's Material Design standards and guidelines to create a final cohesive layout.
UI / UX designer
I developed a sample persona from provided user research to create an archetype of a primary user for a service like Local Guide.
My final iterated design using Material Design.

design UIWeb Platform & Website
DesignUISidewalk is a Chicago-based startup that uses social media data to provide business intelligence for sales and marketing teams. They show SMBs how to increase sales to their target audience with proper insight and direction.
Previous UX research revealed an opportunity for Sidewalk to move past selling raw information and create a web platform that would enable them to sell their product to an entirely different business segment and rapidly grow their business.

Creating the visual design for the UX research for the web platform
Design a new landing page in which to better convey their updated services to appropriate customers.
We started this project by trying to get better understanding of what similar product and services already exist in the market. Sidewalk's service is providing a new product with few competitors in the industry. As a result we had to stretch out and analyze companies providing similar services in other industries to better get an idea of what already exists.
After numerous meetings and getting feedback from the client, I iterated and incorporated design changes and solutions that best addressed the client's business needs while making sure the design was accessible for users.
UX wireframes provided decent direction though ambiguity was still present due to the real need for additional research. There was a lot of data that needed to be conveyed, so I sought to provide a design with good contrast and simplicity within the dark aesthetic that the client desired.

CodingImagine you're planning a party or reception, but aren't sure what music to play. What better way to find out what music your guests will enjoy than creating a playlist that actual attendees can edit and vote on? That is why a mobile web service called Uni-Fi was created. Uni-Fi makes use of the Spotify API to source music information and previews.
My primary responsibilities involved working with the platform Meteor JS and coding the app. Meteor was selected because the application required a database in order for a playlist to be shared and edited by multiple users.

CodingBeo is an online learning web platform. The word Beo is an old English word for bee and was chosen due to the insect’s intelligence and ability to learn and overcome obstacles. The hexagonal theme not only represented the familiar honeycomb shape, but also the building blocks of learning. Working with existing UI and UX assets, we were tasked with coding from scratch and delivering a functional mockup of the site.
Primary Role - implement JavaScript and jQuery to handle the web application's interactivity.
Secondary Role - Create the HTML and CSS for the site's unique honeycomb structure for the Course list page.
I'm primarily a self taught user-centered visual designer and front end developer. My desire to create visually effective and functional designs is counterbalanced by my excitement to code and make my designs a reality.
My previous experience attending an intensive UX / UI bootcamp helped me to hone my skills and knowledge. I also worked as a commercial real estate broker in downtown Chicago helping tenants and landlord with their leasing needs. That experience taught me how to work and manage clients and their expectations. I also learned how to juggle and prioritize multiple projects and remain accountable and reliable to my client's best needs and interests.
When I'm not designing and developing, I enjoy playing soccer and skating, as well as spending time with my 2 young sons and wife. We currently reside in the sunny Southern California town of Irvine. Though the weather is much nicer, we will always miss those snowy Midwest winters!
